ThEWiZ76 No it will stay on, but the board also has pins for 5 and 3,3V where you can solder wires, I would advice to use those with esp32

ThEWiZ76 Since you have to use FTDI to change settings in files that are part of the firmware, chances are an upgrade will actually downgrade the max bandwidth. There seems to be an option to backup the firmware before a flash, but if it ain't broke don't try to fix it I would say.
