Just a normal LC thermometer. Does what it says.— you glue it onto the surface, it shows the temperature. Contrast is about as what is shown on the picture. Pros: completely passive, no batteries needed. Cons: none. Other: make sure the surface is evenly heated (or cooled), otherwise readings won't be accurate.

This is THE timer I was looking for. It is a neat little gadget, sturdily built and all the necessary functionality. A great design choice is a red sector which shows the remaining time — it is clearly visible from just about anywhere. A magnetic base is a huge win so the timer sits in place and does not get kicked around yet can be easily picked up and moved if necessary. CONS: none found. Other thoughts: a 90 minute option could be useful. Or even 120 minutes maybe.
