The balsa and other materials except the plywood are very good. One sheet of plywood de-laminated and I had to glue it back together with thin super glue. The laser cutting is a bit loose on the tail surfaces, you will need to use some thick superglue or carpenters wood glue. The material for the tail surfaces is a bit thick, but a good sanding takes care of that. The nose looks unfinished, but I will make a "C" shaped cowl held on by magnets to fix that. I would not call this a trainer. I will try the included motor, but may go larger to get the performance I want. The control surfaces are quite generous and the plane should be quite acrobatic. The only out and out mistake I found was that instead of two #3 ribs for the wing, there was one #3 and one #2 which was not needed because there are two #2 ribs made of plywood. Fortunately I kept the scrap balsa which had the shapes of the wing ribs and was able to fab one from the balsa #2 rib..use the notch ofr the stringer as a reference and trim the back of the rib to the shape of #3. A strip needs to be cut out to shorten the rib just ahead of where the stringers will attach (in the front 1/3 or so, then glue the pieces together and use the #3 outline to trim some material from the top. When I finish I will post a picture and review the flight performance. I think the kit is very good for the price, it just helps to have some experience building. I don't think it is a beginners kit, but it did go together pretty easy. Pay attention to the pictures, especially building the fuselage.
