mickstrum Thanks nyulnoi for the good review and photos. Great advice about the thermal compound. My device kept tripping out with an "OEP" error indicating a problem with the MOSFET. I dismantled it and found no thermal compound. in fact the heatsink was not even touching the MOSFET so it must have tripped an internal thermal cutout. Anyway, I applied the compound to both chips and everything is fine. 👍

You can adjust voltage on the fly. So it will instantly change, if the output is ON. The device has 3 PCB. There is a B10100G Schottky rectifier (10 Amp, 100 Volt), B75NF75 N-channel 75 V Power MOSFET, STM32F100C8 ARM-based 32bit MCU and some small smd IC. The thermal compound is missing between the large diode + mosFet and the heat sink, I suggest to apply.

These are really nice and easy to build. Very few components to solder, so quite fast to build. I found that the Acrylic trees in my kit were very slightly too thick and were very tight to fit together and I had to file down the bottoms of the tree halves in order to fit them into the base slots. Overall this novelty works very well and is nice, bright and colourful. Excellent value for money.

Excellent little kit and fairly easy if you can solder reasonably well. I've made nearly all of the various little Xmas trees for my 3 year old granddaughter and she loves them. This is extra fun because of the music ... but the novelty will soon wear off! I've modified it to switch off the music and leave the lights on. Just one construction note, once soldered, apply hot glue to the on-off switch to stop it moving about and coming loose. Overall, great value for money.
