D: does it has a cycle?

Jeremy No, it only charges. Does not discharge batteries and recharge.

Jeremy The working voltage of the laser diode is 3v. For this to be achieved, you need a battery that can provide 3V at a constant current. An 18650 would be able to do that because it can be charged up to 4.2V and drained to 3v easily. However, you never connect a laser diode directly to a power source without limiting the current to whatever the laser diode needs to work. This laser module has circuitry inside it to limit the current to that required by the diode (Laser driver) Unfortunately one downside of these drivers is a 0.8v voltage drop so as soon as you use a fully charged battery, this will immediately be brought down from 4.2v to 3.4v leaving only 0.4v usability. Therefore 2 18340 batteries in series are charged to 8.4v. Providied that these batteries are protected, they can be used as follows. 8.4v-0.8v=7.6v all the way down to 6v until the batteries are disconnected by their protection circuit. Therefore the runtime is greatly increased. This explains the need for 2 X 18340.
