I bought this specifically to mod it, but will review as someone who wants a cheapo everyday light. Firstly, the beam pattern is not useful as an EDC. The 1mm2 'Osram' type led gives a very narrow bright spot that does carry to 300m. The fairly large reflector adds a very weak but wide spill. So it does not give a balanced or even floody beam that would be useful for dog walking, hiking etc. Due to its all plastic construction, it is light to carry, although the large head does make it a bit forward heavy and unbalanced. Note that while the head is 92mm, the reflector is only 66mm. In short, there are some better cheapo lights out there with better beam profiles. For about the same money unbranded Convoys are available from third party sellers, or for just a little more outlay, pick a genuine Convoy from their large range.

Flashaholic A convoy sst40 is only slightly more to buy and is 10 times brighter. This Xanes light is horrible.
