Why can I only use the camera after having installed a chinese software (EYE4), and registered at a chinese server? Give me an option to access the camera directly in a browser, without any chinese software installed on my computer
Within 5 minutes you start viewing camera video feed in the APP on your phone. The small manual provided includes English/Deutch/Francais/Espanol/Italiano and (I think) Japanese and Chinese, is sufficient to setup the above. App supports multiple camera's and you not have to configure your router to open ports. (which as security Pro, I wouldn't recommend to use their default APP) With that written, in first instance I was afraid that you couldn't use it with your own ONVIF client and/or DVR/NVR. You have to have some technical knowledge to manual configure these camera's for your own ONVIF and/or DVR/NVR. The easiest way is to download their tool for finding IP's. But you have to surf to http://cd.gocam.so/index_en.html which isn't documented anywhere (I found it after getting in web interface of camera) The technical way is look at ARP table of your router or ping scan your network to see the IP/MAC address that you do not know. In the web interface of the camera you can manually configure your network. For NVR/DVR just configure ONVIF port 10080 login: admin password: 888888 ONVIF client (such IP Cam Viewer Basic) Vstarcam V7816 (I guessed that it would be the same, and it works) http port 81 user: admin pswd: 888888 And it works instant. Keep in mind that direct connecting to camera's from the internet that you have to open a port and map it to camera on your router and use your public IP/hostname to connect to them. (just saying) The image quality is good. The lens has 45 degrees angles, so with 2 of these camera (you can turn it... but as example) in a corner you can cover a complete square room. The webinterface doesn't allow you to watch in a higher resolution than VGA (640x350) and it doesn't scale so on 2560 x 1440 you get a very small image. (see image included). I know that if you use ONVIF client on your phone or NVR/DVR there is no need to use webinterface. But in some extraordinary cases (hopefully never), you need to be able to remote to view a situation, and then this image resolution and not scaling is useless. I hope that they will fix that. I can't comment about stability, sometimes after years these kind of devices start to act strange, spontaneous disconnect and reboot. But for these kind of pricing I would replace them. As you noticed I am very happy with this device at this moment. I have purchased many different IP camera's in the recent few weeks and quality varies, documentation and support is missing and functionality doesn't work etc.. this product is compare able with end-user product that are sold in Europe for retail price between 100 and 250 euro each. So I was happy surprised. If they provide specific support (firmware upgrades and documentation) for C7824WIP then you are not going to find any IP camera with a better price/quality/support then this one.
