I would give this 5 stars as its a great little board, but I cannot get it into bootloader mode. I've tried multiple cables, computers, USB ports, etc.. and it still reports A fatal error occurred: Failed to connect to ESP32: Wrong boot mode detected (0x12)! The chip needs to be in download mode. looking at the circuit diagram the EN line is just restarting the ESP32 not putting it into program mode. I'll next try to short EN to ground to enable program mode but this should not be necessary on a 1.4 rev of the board. Same cable and computer can program all my other esp32 boards.

  • Markham Igot it programmed. I had to take a really small wire and jump between GPIO 0 and ground while pushing the RST button. Then I had to keep the wire jumpered while I hit download.
    It programmed just fine and I have the ANSI terminal program running on it.
