I spent only 2 hours last night assembling this lovely little kit, and enjoyed every minute. I read the instructions twice, checked I had all the components, laid them out so I could easily identify them, then set to. As recommended, the resistors went on first. I found it took about 5 seconds - with my Antex 25W iron, to get the solder to flow through the through-plated holes so the joints looked nice both from above and below. I then soldered on the capacitors, the IC sockets and the jack sockets. The power connector and volume control went on last. I then visually inspected the whole assembly and when I was happy I inserted the ICs, observing the orientation (i.e. Pin 1 is bottom left when looking at the board the orientation shown in the pictures.) I worked first time no problems. I then took a sharp knife to remove the protective layers from the acrylic case work and figured that I needed to mount the board loosely to get the sides to fit into place, There are two forms of spaces, the smallest are fixed to the bottom case panel with their tapped ends upper-most. Slot the board over the studs then the long separator pillars may be screwed into place. The top can then be put in place and retained with the screws. I stuck four small neoprene feet underneath to prevent the lower screws from scratching anything. I hope you enjoy assembling your kit as much as I did.

The sound quality of the amplifier is better than I had expected. The set was well labeled and easy to assemble.

Well, just finished this kit now. It was a nice kit. Simple but good instructions. Only small problem is that the caps are slightly to tall to be able to fully screw down the top lid. But it's OK as long as you just don't use force. I'm not an audiophile but I think the sound quality is very good. I had some buzz when running it from a low quality 12V Power supply, I suspect it's a bit of 50Hz getting through. But when I run it on batteries there is absolutely no background buzz. Quiet = Quiet :-) I guess a better PS will also help. I've tried it together with a set of Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones, which are quite tough to drive. I get much better sound quality running the iPhone 6 through the amp compared to directly from the iPhone. When running direct from the iPhone the quality is a bit "flat". But when using the amp it kind of "come alive". Overall I'll give a top rating.

this is my first soldering project. took about 2hrs to do everything went very well i watched a youtube video on how to put it together. was not sure it would work when i was done :P but it did and works correctly. I would recommend this to someone who was interested in soldering and creating things. Packaging was ok.. one of the ic chips was bent but i was able to straighten it beck.

Great little kit for beginners. This is just my second project since picking up a soldering iron but because everything was clearly marked, it was easy to put together. Couldn't recommend enough. Love the look of it and for a cheap, beginner's kit it works well!
