These snips work great if they are used on soft materials like thin wires, component leads, or plastic. But if you try cutting any metal that's hard, you will damage the cutting edges, so don't expect them to cut like hardened wire cutters. If you use them right, these snips work very well. One great use of them is snipping off zip ties. Instead of using a knife, scissors, or wire cutters to cut off the excess length of a zip tie, which always leaves a sharp edge, you can use these side cutters to cut it very flush and smooth against the zip tie head for a professional looking finish.
